What is Presence in Parenting:
Presence in Parenting™ is an educational program that focuses on supporting the growth and development of families. Parenting classes, parent coaching, and behavioral consulting for families are currently offered along with prenatal parenting classes and consultations focusing on parenting issues for couples and single parents. The purpose of the work is to empower families to make informed choices to lead their families with knowledge and confidence.
Erica Stephenson, CBPI, MA, LCSW
Erica Stephenson has been working with young children and their families in the field of child development for over 20 years as an educator and clinician. She has a Master of Social Work degree from USC as well as holding both Bachelor’s and Master’s in Human Development from Pacific Oaks College. Erica is currently finishing up her doctoral dissertation for The Graduate Center for Child Development and Psychotherapy at the Reiss-Davis Institute in Los Angeles, CA. She is trained in the Child Parent Psychotherapy model for working with relational and discrete trauma by the Children’s Institute. Much of Erica’s research and scholarly work has focused on attachment, affect regulation, and meeting the developmental needs of individuals at all stages of life.
Erica is certified as both a Breakthrough Parenting® instructor and a Reflective Parenting facilitator. She is currently the Lead Teacher and Teacher Trainer for the Outside the Box (OTB) educational and developmental program for infants, toddlers, young children and their families. In addition to being a parent educator, Erica is a psychotherapist working with individuals, families, and children as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Santa Monica and in Encino, CA.
